All right, so it is now time to take the next big step in the process of creating a greenwiki. Now that we have mediawiki up and running on our Derryfield server, the next step is to find content that can be linked to the page. Right now I am trying to decide whether copying and pasting information onto greenwiki pages is the way to go, or if just having a link to the page with the original information on it is more practical. The pluses of linking pages to greenwiki include less overall work in front of a computer, having it be much easier to add content to pages because all you have to do as a reader is post a link on the page. It is also much more unique of a concept than doing something exactly like wikipedia, but I am not sure exactly how it will work with the engine that is allready running on our network. The pluses of having content directly on the page are that it is much more user friendly. Because of this the site may get more traffic because it is more authentic. Basically if we cut and past content, and site our sources at the bottom of the page it will look and feel exactly how the priginal wikipedia does.

OK so today I am trying to figure out exactly what mediawiki does. Last class I spent most of the time watching Joss work scripts on Ubuntu. To me it seemed like a completely different language. I do not know if this means that I have to create another website that somehow incorperated the wikimedia software, or if everything is up and running, and all I have to do is add all of the thousands and thousands of articles. . . Joss is not here right now, so I am searching online for things that could educate me on mediawiki.

So today I am trying to initiate the next step in the process. By this I mean I am going to talk to Mr. Stubblefield about actually creating a script for my website that can be viewed only on the Derryfield server (r~sync). I am going to go do that. BRB. . . . . OK so right Joss is attempting to install media wiki. This is the hardware that wikipedia runs off of. So when this is up and running the site will be only visible to the derryfield community, and will look and feel just like wikipedia. Lots of progress today.

Questions I have:
1.) I am still unsure on how I am to get the GreenWikipedia site to show up on popular search engines like Google and Yahoo.
2.) I have been looking online every day attempting to find an html script that I could copy into an html program like Coffee Cup so I can begin to create a website with its own address. This process is going to be the most difficult for the entire project.
3.) I also do not know weather I should go full tilt on this project. this is because a website that has content added by users around the world, someone has to be editing and monitoring the site at all times. This will also prove to be a significant editing problem.
4.) Finding the content for the website will also be difficult, the first couple hundred articles will most likely have to be entered by me, this part of the process will be extremely labor intensive, and its result will still be a very small database for information.
